Since the start of high school I have been working on an award for my scout troop. As a part of this award I have to conduct a one hundred hour service project. According to the American Heritage Girls Handbook this project has to help my community and last. For my service project I am going to help First Concern Pregnancy in Clinton build some shelves for storage. In April I contacted the directer of First Concern and met up with her to discuss possible service projects that I could do for First Concern. Over the course of this meeting we came up with different project ideas, but building the shelves was what stuck. When school ends I will be meeting back with the directer to discuss the time frame of this project. One thing that I will have to do is raise funds for this project and thanks to the St. Rose of Lima Parish Thrift Shoppe I already have a hundred dollars for my project.
What gave me the inspiration to do this project was my want to help women in crisis situations. This project will help me do this because I will be able to help renovate their space that they come to meet with each other for help. I am looking forward to this project a lot, and the time in class has really been helpful in providing me time to plan the project.
